*Lipofuscin is the product of the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids and is symptomatic of membrane damage, sun damage, or damage to mitochondria and lysosomes. In addition to substantial amounts of lipid content, lipofuscin is known to contain sugars and metals, including aluminum, iron, copper, zinc, and mercury.
